I have a 1998 larson sei 186 with a 4.3 volvo penta that has 170 hours on it. I was recently out on the lake and my impeller blew up, I wasn't paying attention and got the motor hot (around 200 degrees according to the gauge) i shut it off but it started dieseling and eventually died. After getting the boat towed in and back home i started the work... replaced impeller, flushed cooling system, replaced exhaust flappers, and did an oil change using 25-40 as recommended by a local marine mech. The boat started fine with no new noises but my oil pressure was much higher than normal according to my oil pressure gauge on the dash. i normally run about 35 when at idle (700 rpm) this time it was 60 psi, so i replaced the sending unit and now i run 40 psi at 700rpm and climb all the way up to 75ish at 2500 rpm.

What could be causing the high oil pressure? I have not hooked up a manual tester yet.

Ayuh,.... Sounds like what fresh, cold oil does,....

Once up to temp, pressure should normalize,....
