Hey whats going on i am kind of new to boating. I have owned my 2007 Reinell fns 186 with 4 cylinder volvo penta enigine for about a year. I have taken the boat to many lakes and it has always performed perfectly great boat. But this weekend i went to Tahoe and my boat was not performing at all. First off when we launched and got out of the bay everything was good but once i got out to the water the lake just eat me up my boat was not accelerating at all, the rpms would go to 30-35k but i was treading at 10mph's i had 4 people in the boat including my self but i always have four people in the boat. My prop is a 21 pitch prop that came stock with the boat. I realize that altitude would play a part but to only go 10mph's. I am highly confused and worried. could some one give me some pointers on what i should do? thanks guys

I assume you mean 3-3.5 K on the rpm, which sounds a bit low. 30-35K is way too fast.

Even with 3K rpm and a 21 pitch prop something is wrong. You may have "spun" the hub. You can check by marking the prop and the hub and running for a little bit, and checking to see if the marks line up. If they don't, the hub is spun.

You did check to make sure there was nothing on the prop, right?
