I have a 1992 Mariner 115 hp 2 stroke. This weekend it cranked and idled fine but was hard to shift into forward. Ran great for a while then it became very difficult to shift back into neutral. Once it did shift back into neutral it revved up to 3000 RPMs. It rand great except for revving up in neutral. Any suggestions

Three things come to mind - Throttle cable adjustment, idle throttle limiter screw setting, or even idle mixture screw(s).

And could you describe what you mean by "difficult to shift"? Physically you had to push hard, or do you mean there was an unusual "thump"?

Thanks Dekker500. Yes I had to push hard to get it to go into forward or into reverse. Once it was in gear it ran great but when I puled it back into neutral it shot up to 3000 RPM every time.
