Hi all,

I know this has been a topic but I'll post my problem.
My 1993 88 SPL is cutting out at 1/2 to wot.
I have done the following:
Checked fuel lines
Reseated and tightened fuel lines
Replaced 1 cracked fuel line
Checked vent on main tank
Checked and cleaned filter at the fuel pump
I ran a can of the OMC carb cleaner thru the primer valve following the directions.

I attached my new spare 6 gallon external tank as was suggested, it did the same thing.
So I assume the problem is isolated to the fuel pump or carbs.

I ran it WOT with the primer manually engaged, it ran like a raped ape.

Suggestions? Am I on the right track?

Thanks

Re: High speed fuel delivery problem

I think so, TPD211.

Before going into the fuel pump, though, I would try spraying premix into each carb to see if it is only one of them failing to deliver enough fuel, or both.

If your power comes on when adding fuel to one carb, but not the other, overhaul your carbs.

If power comes on when adding fuel to either, go for the fuel pump.

Good luck. :)
