Good day all,

J90ELEDR, 1996 90hp Johnson.

I'm trying to source a new set of high-speed jets (orifice) part #343528, but they seem to have stopped producing them...

Is this another attempt at stomping out the 2 stroke outboard? Anyone have a line on where to find them?

There's one on ebay, for like a million $$ hahaa

Thanks in advance!

Gee, the main carb jet for your motor is:

It is still D/C, so you would need to look at the used/junk parts arena.

Why do you need new ones? They never wear out.

Thanks Chris,

Just got the motor with a boat purchase, motor was presented within the ad to be in "as-is" condition. Running, but rough.

I replaced the fuel/vro pump assembly, thermostats, impeller kit etc... and when rebuilding the carbs, I noted all 4 of the orifices were damaged/distorted. I figure it's possible someone either replaced the float chamber (plastic, warping perhaps), and didn't use the proper tool for the R&R.

That said, after a couple of decarb routines, throttling up is still pretty dang rough. Misfire and hesitation are leaving me to believe those orifices may be my issue. Though it does run fantastically smooth once past that initial acceleration, just rough on the hole-shot.

Now granted, I'm still waiting on the manual to arrive from ebay.. and I'll be going through the link n sync procedure once it does, but I figured they might be something to look at if that doesn't work.

It sounds like the slot for the screwdriver is partially stripped. Normally that does not damage the jets. If the hole thru the brass jet is rough, that could be an issue.

Some of those carbs have intermediate air orifices, w/o air filters. I have found that they can clog. You might clean them. They are about 1/2 way up the carb/throttle body.

Make sure you have the right gaskets for the carbs. I ordered some for my motor and they were real close, but the spaghetti seals were just a bit wrong.

Thank you gentlemen..

Racerone, if Chris is right (likely is lol), then it'll probably be something else.

Think I'll maybe just wait the 2-3 weeks for the service manual, take it from there.

Have a great weekend guys
