I have a 1977 Evinrude 75 hp. I was rebuilding the carbs and when I tried to take the high speed jet out (the one in the bowl) it appeared to be rounded off. I guess the person that worked on it previously screwed it up. What should I do now and can i leave it in to soak it in carb cleaner. I was able to get one of the 3 out.

Re: high speed jet

The hole size of that jet is .055. This is the same size as a #54, number drill. You could check the jet with this to ensure it is open, amd not partially closed off from someones' attempt to remove it with the wrong tool. A number drill will not always be available at the average hardware store. Any machine shop could check the jet with a N0. drill, or a wire guage. All you have to take with you is the carb bowl. This will also insure the jet is'nt partially varnished shut.
