high speed needle for 9.5?

Im sorry to be an idiot but where is that high speed adjustment made on a 69 9.5?

You are not an idiot. There isn't one there. <br />If you look down at the squareish float chamber on the carb, down beneath where the low speed adjustment comes into the carb, you'll see a plug threaded into the casting. It looks kind of like a bolt. If you remove that plug, behind it is a fixed oriface that you can unscrew and replace with a larger/smaller one to compensate for altitude.<br /><br />Hope that explains it!

You are no idiot and your question is a good one. A lot of people, including myself come here to learn. Your motor may well not have a "high speed adjustment". Evinrude/Johnson started introducing carburetors in the 60's that have a fixed orifice. This fixed orifice is located at the same place the high speed needle would go which is at the bottom of your carburetor bowl faceing toward the front.

Thanks again guys. I had combed all over that thing looking......just looking. I feel as though Im starting to get a good feel for this motor now with all your support. -woody74
