New to this, but thanks to (Lou C) thread 9982386 My 1989 225 Sundowner 5.7 is charging right finally , but would like to know now that i bypassed the sense wire and made a jumper from # 1 B+ to back of alternator ,,,I have 2 battery's so how would I hook both up to sense on back of alternator so that what ever battery im running off will charge right. I have a battery switch selector as well ..Thanks guys

Using just a battery switch it will not work

If you install an Automatic Charge Relay (ACR) it will, so long as you wire it according to the installation instructions

Take that back, if you connected your sense lead to the common on the bat switch it would work. Just don't ever start the motor with the bat on OFF.

thanks for the quick reply, the ACR sounds like the ticket. Im just finally can relax knowing what the heck the deal was being I replaced batteries ,alternator and tried every possible looking for a bad ground, and all it was is the sense wire giving a bad reading and making the alternator put out 15.3 .
Thanks again .
