Id like to introduce my self i have been browsing this forum for some time. And it has helped me out alot. But i have a question last weekend i was out at the river i pulled into a cove and didnt like it so i went to back out and was not moving very fast and the prop cought a rock. I was in neutral and it bent the aluminum prop a little. but now my Hydraulics are not working i can Hear the solenoid clicking but it isnt moving up/down and I can move the out drive up and down like there is no pressure in the rams. any suggestions would be gladly appreciated. (this is a 1976 Mercruiser out drive by the way)
Thanks
Dave

Re: Hit Rock Now No Hydraulics

There are check valves in your rams that are off there seat or seats. The rams are designed to take the impact of what you hit so you don't go thru the windshield. Mercruiser has a log test where they drive a test boat over a log in the water(log Test). There is a check valve assemble there are small balls, springs and seats. When you hit some thing you make the balls come off the seat and the hydraulic pressure does a bypass so you don't rip the drive off the back of the boat(controlled trim/tilt of the drive). If you can't get the rams to go up or down you need to take the rams apart and reassemble them.
