Thats all we need, people stealing Hemp boats to smoke them and get high...... :D

We have a coffee shop here that sells hemp shakes, and all the kids flock there thinking they are getting some spliff, when in fact the amount of actual hemp is so minimal it doesn't count. Now those hemp planks, I could just see people selling that stuff out of the back of pickup trucks in seedy neighborhoods. "Honest Officer, I was just rebuildin' my boat".....too much....

Better yet... Can you imagine putting a new deck in using the stuff, then trying to take it across a border and having the drug dogs go nuts on the floor of the boat? "Honest Officer, it's just hemp in the bottom!" :)

I wonder how the fire department would feel about firefighting structures made out of the stuff. Think the whole neighborhood would be standing downwind watching. Possible increase in arson.

The amount of THC in hemp is minimal, not enough to get you stoned if you ate a pund of the stuff.

Marijuana is a type of hemp and does contain enough THC (I know you know this) to get high. Industrial hemp is a very good product and makes the best rope (so I am told). It was banned along with marijuana in the 60's because of its similarity in appearance.

Please correct my if I have my facts screwed up on this.

Hemp used to be a major cash crop around here before banned. I believe it was most needed (for fiber) around WWII. It's illegal to grow in the US because of it's similarity in appearance to pot. In order to be a successful crop again hemp bans would have to be lifted in the US, and that's unlikely to happen soon thanks in part to the lobbying efforts of two very powerful competing industries: oil and lumber. The stereotype attitudes above don't help either... but I've got a joke too... "Can I see your Operator License, Registration, and Prescription?"
