I recently bought a hobie cat. She is in ok condition but the top side of the hull has been weakened by the sun, almost to the point where it wont hold an adults weight. How do i go about re-inforcing the top side of the hull when it is completely inclosed? Do I work from the outside, inside or both? and how do I get on the inside if I have to work there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks, and god bless

the best way to get access to the inside of the hull is to cut a 6 or 8 inch hole and install an inspection cover. then you can reach about 2 feet either direction and apply some extra glass to the under side.....good luck

Flock, they are called "soft spots", there are about 4 different methods for fixing them. It is a delamination of the layers of fiberglass used in "sandwich construction". Usually inspection ports don't work on Hobies because of the curvature of the deck. Go to "www.catsailor.com", click on the "new open forums" button, do a search on "soft spots". There is a ton of info there.
