I want to mount a 2002 johnson j70pl4sn that weighs about 350. I have an overhead hoist. Where do I hook onto the motor to hoist it? There is lift eye. Is that enough to support the weight or do I need a special lifting attachment?

I have an earlier (90s) version 70 3cyl omc and there is a large lifting eye mounted to the block behind the flywheel. I've hoisted the motor using the eye several times and had no problems. Same weight as yours.

Howdy, RMyer.

The lifting eye is strong enough and in the right location. Just be sure that your hoist is strong enough.

Good luck. :)

The 70 4-Strokes have 2 lifting eyes - you will need two straps or short chains to connect to your hoist.
