Hole in the portside

Hi! I just bought a Bayliner 1998 Capri 1750 LS boat yesterday. The boat looks great except for one minor hole that I noticed after I took it home with me.. There is a hole on the portside of the boat which I think is below the water line. I called the guy that sold me the boat and told me that it's a drain hole but is missing the external material.. I don't know if I would believe him or what. Does anybody owns the same boat that could give me an idea of what the hole is? Thank you!

you can repair the hole or replace the fitting but pics would be a big help as would verifying that the hole is above or below the water line. you can get the parts here on iboats also if you are interested
