Originally 2004 Larson 185 hull I purchased had a Volvo penta 4.3 engine with SX outdrive. But i had an older 4.3 mercruiser engine with Alpha one gen 1 outdrive and transom plate and bell housing. The bolt pattern on gen 1 outdrive matched the original 6 hole pattern. But I decided to put a new Alpha one gen 2 setup, with newly rebuilt outdrive and the rest pulled from 1993 Larson boat that I'm scrapping. The bolt pattern has 2 extra bolts, on the top of the outdrive and 2 more in the middle, which match existing holes. So I'm going to drill 2 more holes to match the bolts. My question is, how should I seal the transom at new holes and when I install a bellhousing, should I use some extra sealant besides a new rubber seal I put in the bellhousing.
