Hello,

I know there are many thread on this but unfortunately I found them after I did the work. I just installed a new transducer and all I did was remove the 2 cable screws, shot some 5200 in them, put the new cable in and screwed them in. For the transducer I had to drill new holes then put in 5200 and screwed them in. The old holes ,behind the new transducer, I just filled with 5200.

The question is, was the 5200 even the right stuff to use? The holes behind the mount from the old transducer I cant put screws in so should oI drill them out and put in epoxy of some sort? The boat was going in today but I cancelled it because I was worried after reading all the threads.

Also how soon after the 5200 can you put it in the water?

Thanks

5200 will be fine, epoxy injected in with a syringe works well, squirt in in,stick masking tape over it to hold it in and let it dry.
Read the 5200 tube,I belive it drys in water too.

5200 dries rock hard so you can't remove the screws; 4200 is softer if I recall correctly. But what you did sounds fine to me.

I just installed my motor and did some repairs on my boat. I used the 5200 and it actually dries soft and remains that way. 5200 is H2O reactive, so will dry faster in water with no detrimental effect. I don't fully understand about the holes behind the transducer, but if they are filled, 5200 should be fine, there should be no issue. 5200 is good stuff!

The 5200 is probably the best you could have used for what you did. And,,,,you WILL be able to remove the screws someday if you need to. You can put it in the water 1 min after applied as long as its not where a high pressure spray could wash it out.
