does anyone know how to set the float level on a holley 4160 4 bbl that doesn't have exterior adjusters? Motor runs great at idle and up to about 2000 rpms when it begins to bog, dump fuel and lose vacuum. A mechanic friend said that I should test it in the water under a load....Any ideas?
Thanks :)

Ugg. None eh?? I'd love to see a schematic of that carb. Most all the holleys I've owned have adjusters to set the float level.

At idle, if you pull the peep plug out does a little fuel come out?

Holleys are infamous btw for stuck floats. I've had this problem on a lot of race cars.. Wacking the front + back of the carb with a screwdriver usually resolves the issue temporarily. Perhaps you need a co-pilot next time your on the water.

-- Joe

The 4160 has a side hung float and a level adjustment on it, yours should too unless the float bowl has been changed. It's the screw / lock-nut by the fuel inlet. Adjust it as mentioned (the fuel just trickles out when the peep hole is opened).
