Ok, I now have all the parts needed to rebuild this carb. Unfortunately, Holley's instructions nor my repair manual give me some of the settings for this carb so I'm hoping someone has them.

Looks like I need the primary and secondary dry float setting.

Does your carb have the externally adjusted floats?

The best way to adjust the Holley floats is after you have it back on the engine, you adjust them with the engine running. Pull the brass plug on the side of the float with the engine off, if fuel runs out, set the float lower by lostening the screw on the top of the bowl and turn the nut whichever way is lower then tighten the screw and start the engine. Then shut it off and do the same thing again. After you dont get anymore fuel, you can leave the plug on the side out while the engine is running and losten the screw and make final adjustments, you want the fuel just on the edge of the hole.

Set the top edge of the float just a little below parallel with the upper surface of the float bowl. This way you will most likely have a slightly low float level when you fire up the motor and not have fuel running out everywhere when you take out the float level sight screw.

I always put some gas in the bowls prior to starting the motor. For a marine carb just pour a bit down thru the sight screws. For automotive carbs just squirt some down the bowl vents. I always have a rearend dope bottle on the shelf with some gas in it. The tapered spout is handy for lots of purposes. Prefilling the bowls allows the motor to start instantly instead of grinding on the starter motor until the fuel pump does it's thing.

I also never have the engine running when I go to loosen the lock screw on the float adj nut. I don't like having fuel jetting out under pressure.
