Has anyone made their own bimini top? I seem to remember some thread about this in the past. I would like to make the frame, sew the material, etc.
Pictures would help or links to sites with pictures too.

thanks.

Bust out the Singer

Bust out the Singer

Seems like it might be time-consuming and expensive. I would price the components vs. the purchase of a top from a dealer. Don't forget to factor in your time.

That said, it could be pretty cool to say you did it yourself!

Re: Bust out the Singer

My wife is a great sewer! She's pretty sure she can do it on her machine. I will check out sailrite and see what I find out. Will keep you informed. thanks.

on my boat I want the stored bimini to ride on top of the transom out of the way. I am thinking that will mean using one of the slide brackets on each side of the boat right? I don't like the ones that stay upright for storage on the boat, too much stuff to get in the way when fishing it seems to me.

If you can message me with your email address, I can send you a set of bimini instructions.

What machine does she have?

Mine stays upright for storage too. It has a boot that covers it. When I fish, I just disconnect the two rear legs that hold it up and fold it forward and it lays flush with the windshield. Mine would get more messed up laying rearwards on the transom than up in the air.
