Hey gang,
Need some ideas.

For various reasons I need to install some cameras to keep an eye on my house and toys.

I'd like to go wireless if at all possible.

Also would like to go DVR with motion detection, and remote (internet) viewing. Anybody out there have any systems they particularly like. I'm looking to do 4 cameras, with 3-5mm lenses I should be able to get good coverage. IR illumination are not a must I can add them later, but built in ones are always nice. These will be outdoor cameras.

Feel free to pm me if you don't want to post openly about it.

I really appreciate any help.

Get Geovision cards and software, dedicate a computer to it. You can designate an area of a scene for motion detection. For instance, a camera in the office only records if there's motion at the door. One big disk will hold a years of actual recordable events easily.

Wireless, wired, remotes, all can be configured. TCP/IP is special. The big systems (I just installed a 32 camera system) allow 8 for free. You have to buy licenses for the rest.

You can hang anything from a 40 buck lipstick camera to a 3500 buck remote control pan zoom bullet-proof camera on it.

hope it helps

Thanks John. I had seen the computer cards and have wondered about them. I'll give them a closer look.

The deer cameras work great on the cheap side they take a picture with date and time motion sensitive and work in the dark ...100 bones each might be a way to hook them to your computer I don't know

Remember, you get what you pay for. Try, really try to stay away from wireless. Not sure how much you want to invest, ebay has some nice gear. Samsung DVR's are nice and have all the features you are looking for. They come in a 4, 8 or 16 camera. Not sure if your looking for outdoor or indoor cameras, but Speco have a nice outdoor, vandel proof, varifocul lens, 3-12mm. Clinton are nice for indoor use and also come in a varifocal lens. This is high end gear but absolutey will exceed your expectations. I can go on forever but I just wanted to give you some ideas. Do you have an intrusion alarm. That may help some problems your having. Good luck.
