Trying to chase down non-charging issues ... right now (1987 Ev 90HP). Hopefully that will be all that's wrong. Right now per my adapter I am getting ZERO on one yellow to ground and .5+ on the other off the bus strip. Anything I can test on my vehicle ? This was a new rectifier and new battery but there were issues before the new battery and after the new rectifier install.
1) Forgot to tighten connections at SOLENOID and STARTER. They were VERY loose and I cranked ( or tried to crank) for a while before I realized I had forgot too tighten them up.
2) After this I couldn't hardly get a crank so I hooked my battery charger up but it said FULL. Bendix would not pop up so picked a used starter up off EBAY. Still no go. So couldn't jump SOLENOID. Long story short, for some reason I put my multi-tester on battery. Only 7 volts even though charger said FULL ( also think it was overcharging even though it was automatic). Tried to jump solenoid off my car battery. BINGO !!! Exchanged battery at Walmart. This took me awhile to get to this point. Hopefully I didn't mess up the NEW RECTIFIER.
*** My bus strip ( terminal block), I had to wire it differently than the manual. Not sure why, but wouldn't work by the book. I had to use 1st screw. There is something on the diagram at the red wire which maybe a jumper to other 2 reddish wires but I don't remember there being one.
