I'm replacing my prop shaft seal in my Volvo Penta SX Cobra outdrive..... and didn't want to purchase their "special" install tool for the seal. For $5, I made my own tool that works perfect.

I purchased a 5ft 1-1/4" PVC pipe from Lowes as well as an end cap for that pipe.

I cut the pipe down to about 7", and using my dremel, slightly beveled the inside of the pipe...... put the cap on the other end.

This now fit PERFECTLY around the prop shaft seal. Inserted into the carrier, and with a few taps on the cap, installed the seal perfectly with zero damage!

Hope this helps someone out there!
Phil

This is an awesome solution for an insertion tool. I already paid $57 for the Marine Tech Tool to remove the bearing carrier. The Marine Tech tool made getting the carrier out a snap.
