Very nice!<br /><br />I gotta ask -- whats the two hose clamps for? Oh, and wheres the thrust blocks for the upper mounting bolts?<br /><br />Good job on getting the steering in the correct hole on the tiller arm. Again, very nice!

That looks really good! I'm hoping for results as clean as that, though since I'm not myself an aluminum fabricator or aquainted with one, I'll be buying my setback (adjustable). I hope you don't mind but I'm swiping a copy of those pictures for comparison to my own project. Thanks for sharing your project!!

Dhadley, the clamps have a SS plate welded to the back that has a stud welded in position for the stearing link for my kicker.<br /> I'm going to plead the 5th on the question of thrust blocks for the upper mounting bolts, as I guess I don't understand the question???????

Calicokid,<br /><br />You don't need to be fabricator to work with aluminum. Buy some plate,bar, and channel stock (yellow pages) and have some fun. With a little practice and fairly standard tools i.e. household drill, file, jig saw, hacksaw, you can do some neat things around the house and boat.<br /><br />Walleyehed - GREAT job! classy act all the way.

Dhadley, here is the other part of the clamps, or the reason for, I should say....... <br />Hope these come out.....I calculated the pivot points on both engines, and made the extension on the kicker to match full turning in both directions, without one or the other "bottoming out".

That looks pretty sweet. Have you run it yet? I am curious to know if any real improvements have been realized. It is just the low-buck widgety thing I would like to do. I am bored and now ice is forming on the water....

Yea, I've run the engine on the set-back if thats what you meant....The kicker has been on this boat for 2 years....just had a different main OB.....

2K, nothing.........the aluminum plate has a much larger footprint than the engine itself.<br /> Got about 35 hrs on it now.....I checked bolts the first few hours with no movement or loosening.<br /> I beat the snot out of it 2 days ago in rough water, and shows no ill-effects-it's very stout, but as I said, the aluminum channel has a much bigger footprint, and load is spread out more.
