Could someone provide ideas or plans for an inexpensive yet functional stand. Getting ready to pull the drive to replace water pump and shaft. Will be my first time so any advice on disassembly is also welcome

Thx Levinz couldn't get any of the attachments/ thumbnails to come up. Is that because it is a closed thread?

Most of the pictures work, some don't because the one that posted them doesn't have the sites anymore.
You do have to be logged in to see the pictutes.

Drive jack from Stumpy's Fabworks.jpgCobra 5.jpgI made a wood one that is in that thread some years back but I finally got something better, from Stumpy's Fabworks....The fact that this has a jack on it, and the mount can be flipped around makes it very useful and it's much easier to install the drive when you can get the height of it exactly right.

Thx Lou C. Thats probably probably one of the nicest I've seen. Thought about making one out of motorcycle stand but the ability to turn the od was not there. What did you pay for it?

170+ shipping. Well worth it. Not fighting with the drive to get it on=priceless.

That's actually a really good price compared to most of the purpose built/adjustable steel stands I have seen.

My stand is just for holding the dive after it's pulled.
Take an 8ft, 2x12 and cut it into 4equal pieces.
Make a V from 2 of the pieces on a 3rd piece.
Turn over and add the 4th piece.
Use BIG screws, 4 inchers at least.
Nails will eventually pull.

Not a very good picture but here is what I used.

harbor Freight motorcycle jack. It was on sale and I had a 20% coupon. Approx $75

2 30" 4x4's from HD - $1 each

Scrap 2x4 - Free

C- clamps. Already had them.

I also cut some abs shims to use to get it right on based on the variation in the street, etc.

Worked pretty well and the added cost was worth it over building my own completely out of wood.
