I have a line on a good deal for a Honda 130 four stroke. Its from a dealer who salvaged it from a boat that had been under salt water for 2 hours. He has rebuilt and replaced all the electrical wiring. Says it runs great and will provide 1 year warrantee. Does this sound reasonable or should I walk away.
Thanks!!!

Re: Honda 130

being from the coast and seeing both boats and vehicles that have been exposed to salt water (sunk) I have never seen one that could be completly salvaged without some sand or salt water issueslate in life. Now, with that said, how good is the deal and how good is the dealer that is willing to warranty the motor???? Did the entire engine and lower end get dissambled and flushed, how about the fuel injection system? at the price of components and labor, unless he stole the engine, I can't see where he can give a great deal and make any money..

Re: Honda 130

The dealer will warranty the motor for one year. I don't know the specifics, but he said he rebuilt it including electronics and wiring. I think he basically got the engine for free, it was on a town boat that sunk, and the town wrote the engine off. He is asking for $3,500, including removal of old engine and installation. I will check back with him to see if he did the things that you mention above. But assuming that these items were taken care of, does this sound Ok?
