I posted this in the Honda section and have received no responce so I'm trying the ol pontooners section. Always helpful :)

I have a 2006 Honda 40 hp. Is it possible to rebuild these? I don't know the part names for the seperate parts but I can explain. There is a hydraulic cylinder and another cylinder next to it that is rusted pretty bad. The unit still works but I'm thinking of repairing it before it goes. Is this an electrical part?

If pictures are required I will take some. Thanks

Re: Honda 40 pt&t

Anything is rebuildable if the parts are available. But is the price of the rebuild worth the investment? I've never seen a 7 year old small 4 stroke motor requiring rebuilding.

If the cylinder still works, just run it until it blows. A bad cylinder's not going to strand you in the water. There's no rebuilding--just replacing them. In the meantime, just keep a close watch on it.
