Glad to be part of the forum.
I just read a thread from a fellow forum member in regards to a purchase of a "non-current" Honda BF225 that he got a deal on compared to a more expensive "current" 2008 BF225.
I thought Honda did away with model years....what defined the cheaper engine as "non-current"?
I am interested in a BF225 as a re-power at my local Honda dealer and he says the motor "year" is the year it is purchased. He gave me the serial # of the BF225 and I called Honda to gather more info. The customer service person also said there is no model year. He ran my serial # and told me that engine was invoiced to my dealer on 3/07.
When I told my dealer about the info from Honda and the 15 month old engine, he said it did not matter. Again he said the assigned engine year is the year it is purchased. When I inquired about ordering another engine he recommended against it and even said an ordered engine could of have been sitting somewhere even longer.
Am I getting my chain pulled?? To his credit the serial number starts with 150.. and that corresponds to the latest serial numbers. He also says Honda mass produces engines at a time and only go back to producing when inventory is low.
Just want to make sure this engine is "current"
Thanks in advance for the replies!!
