I cleaned the carbs and put everything back together, starts on the first pull.

Is there a way to set the rpm without a tach meter?

By ear, perhaps?:p

Are you talking about the governed top rpm? I watched a honda tech do that once and he had a hand held tach. This was a long time ago so I do not remember what the device was or how he kicked up the max rpm. I do know that he push the legal blade tip speed limit.

I know, I know, not much help.

Sure get a sirometer ...cheap on eboy....5-10 bones.I have both a tach and the siro but I seem to use the siro more I find it faster....East to use you hold it on the crank end where you fingers are not going to disapper like on the pull start end and turn the dial till the wire that comes out resonates.....they are really accurate and I've tested it against the tach most ot's been out is 10 rpm but I think it's my eyes more than the siro [small close lines on it}
