hood cowl seal

i have a 1958 johnson seahorse 35 hp that im working on. the hood cowl seal is shot. can i buy a replacement or do i just have to find something comparable that will work? any help would be appreciated!

You can dink around with attempted substitutes, or you can get the right stuff. There will be a considerable difference in cost. www.nymarine.ca

The correct diameter black rubber hose or tubing, slit carefully, can produce a pretty darn good cowl seal. Maybe attach it with black silicone rubber or some stainless fasteners. Of course the original item will fit and look better, IF you can find it! Good Luck!
