I've been waiting since last October to find out if my boat was a good buy. I had to wait until Feb 1 to get my boat professionaly looked at and serviced. After sitting for at least 5 years from the previous owner and not testing it before I bought it ( I only did a visual inspection ), I was a little anxious about the shape the motor was in. The service at the boat shop passed very well. Carbs were clean, cylinders in good shape with 130 compression in all three. They changed the water pump impeller, repaced some fuel lines and primer bulb and it runs really good. The only thing I was questioning is they deleted the oil injection. It was the kind that injected the oil into the fuel line before the engine. They said it was an unreliable system becuase there is no warning of the system failing. They said that type of system has a bad reputation. I still have it if I wanted to put it back on. I really don't mind mixing the oil and gas when I fuel up . I'll mention it is a Fisher SV16GT 1990 model. 60 hp mercury 2 stroke. Well, Today was my maiden voyage on a cool day in Whiskeytown Lake in northern Ca.
I love my boat. It performed great. Wahoo!!!!! Tim

Glad it worked out well for you. Not everyone who buys a boat without a sea-trial is so lucky. Looks like you got your boat from an honest seller. Again, I'm glad it worked out for you. Enjoy the boat, and may it provide many safe, happy outings for you and your family.

That's great! I had the same boat and I loved mine. Are your decks aluminum under the carpet or wood? If they are aluminum then it is an original Fisher build and if they are wood ..... it is a later build when they were swallowed up by Tracker Marine. I have to confess.... I like the original's better ;)

Yes, I had the "traditional" grey model. I am happy to see another one going again.

Tim, That's great!, and you're ready to enjoy the upcoming boating season. Maybe good to kiss that oil injection system goodbye, premixing is really no big deal, and it's as dependable as you are! Have safe boating!

+1
I deleted the oil injection on every jet ski, or o/b with the system I've owned. One less link in the chain to go bad I figure. Premixing isn't a big deal (just make sure to have a spare oil bottle on board if you need gas while on the water. I think oil injection systems are on of those thing people either trust or don't (just like some people like Fords and some like Chevy's). I happen to be one of the ones that doesn't trust them (no real reason for this, just my preference).

Re: Hooray !!! It floats.

To those of you that replied . You've made me more at ease with deleting my oil injection.
my fisher boat is a 1990 model and does have the aluminum flooring and doors for the compartments. The seams are welded but the ribs on the hull are riveted. After four or more hours in the water yesterday, there was still no water in the bilge. I must be livin right.
Today I was online and found a top for my Johnny Ray fishfinder base. So I bought it. The previous owner evidently didn't take the time to remove them from his graphs when........So I had two bases with no tops for them. Anybody familiar with the Johnny Ray bases? They allow you to swivel your graph 360 degrees. You have to mount your graph to the top that goes to the base.
If you google Johnny Ray fishfinder base you could see what I'm confusing you about.
As far as mixing the gas and oil. I'm carrying some oil with me. Enough to mix 10 gallons. My tank holds 12 gallons built in under floor. Can't wait for another trip to the water. It's very windy and cloudy today. I'm glad I went out yesterday. thanks for the encouragment. Tim
