Is there any kit or anything parts wise to hop up a force 125 hp 1989 year outboard. The engine does not at this time need a rebuild or I would go .040 over but are cams or anything else available to do a hopup on this outboard ??

i think the best low cost improvement you can do is get some boyesen reeds.

WOULD THE REEDS AND A PROP CHANGE BE THE BEST USE OF MY MONEY. IF SO WHAT PROP PITCH WOULD I GO WITH TO GET THE BEST SPEED. THIS IS A 20 1/2 FOOT BOAT AND IT REALLY NEEDS A BIGGER MOTOR BUT THATS TO EXPENSIVE.

the reeds can make a difference, but i dont think its going to be the difference your looking for. the prop question will need more info from you. what is your wot rpm now? what prop pitch are you running now? 3 blade or 4?.

just out of curiousity are you using a hydrofoil? and where is your cavitation plate in relation to the bottom of the transom? "x dimension".

That engine does not have "cams" or anyting like a car engine.

If you do not have a tachometer, you're blind.

It needs to run in it's peak rpm range. If not, you'll destroy it quickly. I'd say it's already overloaded.

Post some WOT tach. readings. I would say if it won't turn at least 5000 rpm's, you are lugging it and it will fail soon.

Remember, 1" in prop. pitch is about 200 rpm's.

Your not going to do anything with the motor that will make a significant difference in speed. You might get 2 or 3 mph more out of it but that's about it.
