Horn comes on as soon as i turn on key.

on a 200hp johnson with new vro 1991.I have un hooked the temp sen on motor and it is still going off as fast as i turn key not even started waht causes this.

Not sure I understand. When you turn th key on, horn should sound for 2 seconds, lighting up gauges. This is normal. However, if it should continue to go on, take it back to your dealer and have it diagnosed.

Unhook the wires going to the oil tank and see if the horn still sounds. Could be bad sensor in the tank.

This is a 1991 model, right?? When you first turn the key on, you should have 1 short beep. If its staying on, try this: Turn the key on, unhook the temp switch on the port bank, then the starboard, then unplug the VRO, then unhook the oil tank. Which ever item you disconnect and the horn stops, is your culprit. If the horn doesn't stop, there is either a short in the wiring harness (boat or engine) or the horn is boogered.<br /><br />-John<br /><br />BTW- Trent, do I know you from another board???

The horn going off is on my buddies boat and it stays on the whole time the key is on not just for a second . the light question that i posted was for my boat. I have tried to un hook the temp on motor and still horn is sounding i'll try the vro and tank.
