Well that's not a belt noise. Don't know if it's an optical illusion but I could see something being tossed to the right of the engine water pump. maybe water. From the noise I would think engine water pump

Actually, your "water pump" is the one mounted on the front of the engine.

Your "sea water" or "raw water" pump is the one mounted on the bracket to the left side (as looking from your video) of the engine with an inlet/outlet on the back side of it pointing toward the transom. That's what pulls water up from your drive, and where your impeller is housed.

But I'm glad your not leaning toward the balancer:)

I doubt just changing out the impeller will solve the problem, I think you should be looking at replacing the bearing and seal. Lots of details on here, if I remember correctly "insttech1" did one for the 3.0lt engine and I did one for the crank mounted one.

I would tighten your alt belt you can se it flopping around in the video. and the little squeel at the very end when you shut the engine off sounds like the belt slipping on the alt pulley. either that or a bearing in the alt. i would run the engine and stick a screw driver on the case in a safe area and put your ear to it and listen to it. its a mechanic keep version of a stethascope and 9 times outta 10 i find the bad bearing. if bearings sound ok then tighten or replace belt. That squeel is definatly bely slippage.

Did you hand spin the circ pump? Those can scream loud too.

"IF" you have a bad bearing on your raw water pump, here is a thread with info on how to replace it, without buying a new one.
There is also info in that thread that you can follow for instructions on how to repair the water pump mounted on the block.

I'm at work, so I can't access the video...

I replaced the raw water impeller and greased it with lithium grease. I ran the motor for a while and no screeching... well it did for a second when I was revving the motor.... I'm guessing it was the water impeller and that the noise runs down those pipes and makes it hard to identify where it is originating...

I'm happy at the moment, will take it out hopefully this weekend. In N. California we are still in striper Season... while the rest of the states are entering stripper season. (bass joke)

This is a stupid question, but are you running water and muffs on the engine when in the driveway?

Yes, thanks for checking, I always run muffs.

After all of this, I did determine that the main pulley belt needs to be replaced in the near future...

Question: Do I really need to lift the front of the engine in order to replace the main belt on the front of the engine... well its not really a question because I think I know the answer... but what is the best way to lift the front just enough to get the new belt under it? I'm assuming that I would need to remove the outdrive in order not to screw it up when I lift the front of the engine... which is then followed by checking the alignment of the outdrive... basically a big job just to replace a single belt.... any thoughts?

Several different ways folks can do it but many use a bottle jack and a block of wood against the oil pan. You just need to jack it up enough to support the load and remove the front mount. Replace the mount and let it down. Once done you need to recheck your engine alignment. So pulling the drive before is best, your going to need to do it anyway.

Ayuh,.... While I ain't sure 'bout the OMC/ Volvo front mount,....

With the Merc front mount, ya just pull the 2 portside bolts, remove the spacer block, change the belt, 'n put it back together,....
