I ordered the original spare VP 872336. I was automatically replaced with the spare VP 872338, for my VP 500B.
The original piece has the exit angle of 45 ?, while the new is 90 ?.
The two parts are not compatible and can not connect the water hose.
Possible that VP has made such a blunder?
May not exist on the market the correct fittings?
I do not want to spend more money to buy 2 new water hoses (that then?).
Solutions?

Thanks to all

Re: hose nipple VP 872936

Hi

I know this is an old thread, but rather than stating everything again,
with a new thread, I thought I'd give this one a shot.

My hose nipple broke while removing it and in looking at the pictures
of the replacement (872338), it looks different from mine and that it
wouldn't work. Then I searched the forum and came upon this post.
I have the same problem.

There is no way the superseded part 872338 will work with its 90? angle.
The original part had a 45? angle, as stated above.

The replecement hose that attaches to the nipple (857038) looks different than
mine and has a 90? bend at the end, which looks like it would work
with the superseded nipple, but I'm only guessing.

Do I get the superseded nipple and a new hose and keep my fingers
crossed? (I was going to replace the hose anyhow).

Or . . . I could try to search and wait for the old nipple and the old hose.
I have until next spring to look.

Seems like someone must have encountered this before?

Any suggestions?

Thanks . . . Brian

HI Brian
I solved the problem by ordering two more original pipes ( for my two engines) and I made a collage.
The tube is of very hard material and does not lend itself to additional curves.
Thanks to the additional curves of additional tubes and a bargain, I was able to install the pipe at 90 ? instead of the 45 ?.

One thing is certain: Volvo Penta has not provided this type of replacement.
I ordered new tubes have the same folds of the originals, while the pipe at 45 ? is no longer provided. This set does not allow mounting.
I believe to be a serious company like Volvo Penta, should not fall into such errors.

attached, how I solved it.

Thanks simbor

I was hoping you had a solution and would reply.

The pictures are great and much more than I
could have hoped for.

I will attempt to do the same thing.

I really appreciate your help

No problem Brian. if I can be useful even overseas, so be it. :)

Is it possible that no one (in the world) has had the same problem? Just you and me?

Since the nipple is just plastic, it would seem that
others must have been broken. Maybe other people
though, are not on iBoats forums? At least if
someone else does have this problem, they can look
at this thread for a solution.

A solution you provided.

Well Done !
