Can anybody confirm where the hoses from these connectors go to? One connector is on the port side of the adapter plate. The other is on the front port side of the crankcase. I have a ton of pics but none of those areas. Thanks.

Yorab .........

I'm on my way out the door for Sunday Services, but I can send you a picture around four hours from now. I just pulled my '64 Starflite 75 off the boat for some transom repair and it's on the floor of the shop with the cowling off. Can I trade you for pictures of the junction box? I can't find one and it looks like I'll need to build one.

Hello yorab,

The one below the intake is the suction/pump line that drives your fuel pump. The one on the exhaust tube is likely for your hot water choke. I don't have that one on my '65 Johnson 60hp which uses an electric choke. There will also be a SB side nipple that connects the lower cylinder back to the crank case.

Yorab ...........

Here are pictures of what I can see of the hose routing without hoisting the engine up off the floor.

Re: Hose Routing Early '60s 75hp

Thanks guys. I'll get to this later in the week since the weather here will be bad for a few days. I may need a bit more clarification once I get back to it. If I do, I'll ask.

boldtr, I've attached the pics that I have of the junction box. I'll take more pics later in the week. Let me know if you want pics of specific parts of the box.

I believe that you are correct, boldtr. The parts manual lists the hose from the water choke as "Choke to adapter plate hose". I suppose that the hose runs under the manifold at the front of the motor from the starboard-side choke around to the port-side adapter plate connector. Does anybody know for sure if this is the correct routing for that hose?

So I think that I've got most of the hoses routed properly but I'm down to 4 connectors, all on the starboard side. One connector is at the top of the cylinder bank, the second is at the bottom of the cylinder bank the third is the water choke inlet at the top of the choke and the 4th is at the bottom of the crankcase--again all on the starboard side. I've taken pics of the lower connector under the cylinder bank on my spare block since the weather was too horrendous to go outside and get pics of my motor. Anybody know how these are connected?

Re: Hose Routing Early '60s 75hp

I found an old picture that shows that the hot water choke inlet connects to the nipple on the starboard side just above the cylinder bank. In the picture, I can see a hose running across the top of the engine on the starboard side. The arrow points to it. Therefore, I am left with two connectors: one is below the cylinder bank on the starboard side and one is at the bottom of the crankcase, just below the starter. Can anybody confirm that there is a hose that runs along the lower motor trays just below the starter and connects these two connectors?

Can anybody confirm where the hoses from these connectors go to? One connector is on the port side of the adapter plate. The other is on the front port side of the crankcase.

First one: This hose carries the "spent hot water" from the choke to the adapter plate. The hose is routed along the bottom of the intake manifold with a clamp on the starboard side of the intake manifold at the bottom and another clamp on the by-pass cover.

Second: This hose supplies the pressure/vacuum pulse from the crankcase to the fuel pump. The hose is routed directly beneath the pump to the outlet with zero clamps. However, it should have a spring wrapped around the outside of the sharp radius bend to prevent kinks. EDIT: If the fuel pump has a 90 degree fitting like boldtr's picture, you probably do not need the spring!

My reference is an Evinrude 50931A which is a 1962 model 75HP. Good luck!

Confirming that hose arrangement for discharge of puddling fuel/oil from the crankcase. Sorry to take so long!

Thanks Willyclay! Now I know how that hose is routed and now I know what that hose does.

Glad to help a young guy keep one of these great old motors running! Is it warm enough in PA to splash that rig yet?
