hot buzzer comes on while at idle

1988, Force, 125hp<br />Does not put out a very good stream of cooling water while at idle. More like spitting than peeing. And then the hot buzzer will come on. If I take off and run , the buzzer will go right off and stay off while running.This just happens at idle. Thanks <br />Tom<br />Indypopeye

Sounds like it is time to change the impeller.

Very easy fix - replace the impeller dont keep running it like that as it will damage your engine.

While you're changing the impeller, check the inside surface of the impeller housing. Make sure it's smooth so that you won't be replacing the impeller again prematurely. Also lightly grease the inside surface.

You have to drop the lower unit to access the water impeller. Get yourself a manual before doing this. The first time may take you a couple of hours but after that will onlt take about 30min. When you have a manual give us a post if you need help.
