So, I have a 1978 mercruiser 140. I furn on key and will not crank. Good battery, good starter, goodcables...hot coil and resistance wires...any suggestions ?
If this is not a new to you boat and it just happened, need to check the neutral safety switch in the throttle control. Turn key to start and hold it there while moving it FWD/REV just slightly. Don't put it in throttle only mode.
IF it cranks then that's all it is.
If it doesn't fix it, check wiring from the key starter terminal to the starter relay on the motor, Will be the small Yellow wire
