Can anyone explain WHY there are 12 hot dogs to a package, and only 8 hot dog buns to a package?<br /><br />I always thought it was because it gave you something to argue about around the camp fire!<br /><br /> <br /><br />H.

You won't know what that is unless you know what a mechanical seperator is.<br /><br />A mechanical seperator in the poultry packing business is a multi wire hooked device that is shoved up the vent of poultry. It is then twisted and removed in a quick yet deliberate mechanical motion. This material that is left hanging on the seperator hooks is boiled to a particular consistancy. This material is called mechanically seperated chicken.<br /><br />I like mine with brown mustard and raw onion.

They make hot dogs near my place. Boys you dont want to know what goes in em. Buddy of mine worked there for a spell and still wont eat one till this day. Here are just some of the things he mention(all from hogs) faces,peckers,inards,nuts,ears,skin,tounges,etc. Now if you want to eat a real mixture of "stuff" fry you up some scrapple!!!
Yeah, Flahthead. I ordered some scrapple at breakfast in Lancaster, PA once just to see what it was like. I still don't know what it was I was eating. Maybe I'm better off not knowing.
Hey magster,<br /><br />Some advertising agency came up with the bright idea of "Designer Hot Dogs" .<br /><br />Sounds like a New York City idea, the yuppies here will buy anything if the packaging looks preppy.<br /><br />They sell "Canned Cow Manure" in an "Odor Free Can" , for the windowsill gardner here and the yuppies just buy them up.<br /><br />Go figure.
