My 1989 88spl has always been a hot head the first start of the season, then fine thereafter. I'll run it on the hose, and it seems the 'stats stick. I read on old thread that the tiny holes in the valve body are getting plugged. Can these be opened up a bit to reduce this problem? New pump kit this weekend, so runs cool at speed. I HATE getting into the thermostats, because they are a bugger to get back into place when its time to reassemble.

Any comments?

you are running in salt water, are you flushing after each use. i have a 88 88spl, you could have salt build up in system.

Yes I run all SW, but flush after every use and use Salt-Away
