I have a 1987 sport craft 20' fisherman I bought as a restoral project. I have the boat stripped down most of the way, just fuel tank, wires, and tilt and trim still on the boat. I'm getting ready to paint it so the sea drive tilt and trim has to go but I have to get it lowered to take a measurement for a bracket I'm havin made! Any ideas on how to get the tilt to lower without me having to set the motor or anything back on? I do know the tilt and trim work for fact. I have a Mercury motor I'm having a bracket made to fit on the sea drive. Any help? Thank you!

If it's the same as a regular outboard you will have two wires coming from the trim motor. Momentarily connect them one to the positive and the other to the negative of the battery. Reverse the connections to change the direction of the tilt/trim.

Didn't work! I shoulda thought this through before removing everything! Had planned on getting another Johnson which would not have been a problem but I lucked into a real good deal on a merc!

I found a decent diagram, going to try to get it down next weekend!

It should also have a manual release valve that would let you move it by hand.
