How are thru hulls sizes determined?

I'm having a buddy who does bottom work take the boat this winter. I'm going to have him take our my main thru hulls for the deck drains as they are starting to deteriorate as seen in the attached photos.

Am I going to have to have the old ones in hand to know what to order or can we determine from these photos what I need, or at least so I can start pricing stainless options?

As you can see the are just short of 3" on the outside diameter and the inside drain looks to be 1.5" but I have no clue on the hose side yet as they are pretty well hidden from view. I might actually have to cut a service hatch or two to get to the hose but that will be determined once we figure out how to get the deck drains out!

You'll need to measure the hose size and length. I've seen a few that needed extra long tubes. Some are also a right angle on the inside. Best to get them out before ordering.
