Hey guys!!

My first post here.
Let me say in advance... thanks to anyone who responds!!

I have a 2004 5.7LX jasper re-built with a 96 BIII. Obvioulsy I trailer the boat.

In trying to up my maintenance game I went for the lubing of my sterring system. I got QS 101.... AND... like the fool that I am I applied it to the power streering shaft instead of the exposed streering cable!!!!
So the 101 is now all caked up on the shaft sleeve. Holy #%$^!!!
Is it ok to leave it on there??? I'm a big guy and its tight in there.
Curious to know what the effects of leaving it on there will do.

Also has anyone had luck getting to the engine coupler fittings!!!

thanks
Al in IOP SC.

While I can't answer your question, it is pretty cool to see ya from IOP, my wife and I cruise the ICW from the harbor up to capers and bulls almost every weekend!

The QS101 won't bother the steering shaft.

There's no way to get to the coupler fittings on my boat unless you have arms about 6 feet long with 4 or 5 joints built like Tinkertoys.

The coupler fitting lubes the outdrive input shaft. I pull my BIII every year (check bellows, lube u-joints, check alignment, etc) and lube the input shaft when I put it back together.

Standard maintenance on the coupler if you don't have a fitting is to lube the input shaft annually when you inspect the outdrive as above.

Hey thanks 45A...

I'm gonna try to take off as much of that 101 as I can but i know some will remain.

So then the coupler... its just for the splines??? No bearing in there??.. ( i know there is one in the gimbal )

I'm going to pull the Bravo this year in the winter... i juts need to find a good mechanic around here in case!!
