How can I find the model number if the plate is scraped off the motor mount.

I think it is a 1979 150 VRO. I need the model number but is is scraped up and I can't read it. All I see is J150 the serial is ? 7495598 The ? I can't read. Is the model on the motor someplace?

Look around the cylinder end of the engine block for a silver, quarter-sized welch plug. It should have both numbers. I believe there were only two 1979 Johnson Recreational 150HP Model numbers, 150TL79, and 150TXL79.

I did see a silver cap on top of the motor. Looked like a frost plug. It did have numbers on it. I will check tonight. Thx a bunch......
