what makes a marine engine a marine engine is brass freeze plugs, marine head gaskets marine cam, along with the marine manifold, carb, ignition, alternator, and starter.

the block, heads, etc. are the same between trucks and boats

Re: how can i tell if engine is marine or car

Some HO 302's and i believe all marine 302's and 351's used the 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 order which is generally referred to as the 351 Windsor order.

All others used 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8

Can be a little confusing.

Most aftermarket cams i have used in the small block ford use the 351 order.

Are you working with a manual of ant sort?

Has it ever run sense you owned it? A little history of the boat may get you some help here. Your not giving anyone much to go on.
