How do I check the gear ratio of my outdrive ?

I have a out-drive that i took of my 8 cylinder engine and i would like to find out what gear ratio the drive is in. I only have the upper half of the drive as the lower i have damaged it . I looked every where for a stamp and could not find it . Can someone please tell me where the stamp could be located on a alpha 1 gen 2 outdrive or how to count the gear ratio . Thank You
