How do I determine the year of these two motors

How do I determine the year and the horsepower of a motor by the serial number.<br />The first one is: 4602980<br />I could not see the numbers real well I come up with two numbers I dont know if either of them are right: 8270435<br /> 3270435<br />This motor is a Mercury Kiekhaefer 1150

The 3270435 Merc is a 1150(115 hp.) 1971 model.Is the first number also a Merc?If so, 4602980 looks like a 1150(115 hp.) Merc 1977 model.

Yes the first number is a merc. But I did not know what HP. All I have of it is the tower leg and the lower unit. I also know the lower unit and the tower leg wont interchange with the 1971.
