The engine starts and runs great but smokes excessively and oil drips out the exhaust. The service man says it is just fine which I doubt. How do I disable the VRO so I can premix the fuel/oil?

why do you want to disable it?

As I stated in my query, the engine smokes excessively when running and when idling. When I tilt the engine down to flush it, oil drips out the exhaust. The pump is (to me) pumping too much oil.
Thanks for your interest/help

Pensyjim, before you disable the oil side of the pump, check your fuel line for an air leak. I had the same symptoms with my 97 90 hp, excessive smoke (and oil consumption) and oil oozing out of the prop after running. It turned out to be a ripped o-ring in the quick-connect fitting at the fuel tank. It still allowed enough gas to get to the engine so I did'nt have a fuel starvation issue, but the VRO pump was pumping way too much oil as it tried to supply gas. An air leak does not always leak fuel. I replaced the fitting and things returned to normal.

A fuel restriction can also cause excessive oil comsumption.
