I have a 1956 Johnson CD-13 with stand and tank. I know nothing about it other than in was in my grampa's garage for 20 years before my mom dumped it on my porch acting as if she'd found gold. I'd like to get this thing out of my garage 2 years later but don't know the best way to go about selling it. I know zip and squat about motors but I live in the land of 10,000 lakes, so ebay doesn't seem like my best bet. Suggestions?

(the site won't let me upload any pics...I get an error message but you may be able to see them at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1VSVmgT-xbu5py0ZgYGuENVyTwB5Yju6m?usp=sharing

You may find somebody awestruck that's interested, but generally speaking, old motors like that, even if in very good condition, in my experience they are worth very little. Like a hundred bucks.

welcome aboard.

the rules you agreed to state you cant post pics until you have at least 4 posts under your belt

list it on ebay or craigslist or with the local AOMCI https://aomci.org/chapters/

since you only have 10,000 lakes, assuming Minnesota (vs Wisconsin's 15,000 lakes)

the motor would fetch about $200-$500 in good running condition

it probably needs about $200-300 worth of maintenance on it to be a reliable runner (impeller, power head lower seal, ignition coils, etc.)

I'd skip ebay, but AOMCI, craigslist and Facebook marketplace should work for you. If it looks nice and feels like it has good compression when you pull the starter rope you shouldn't have trouble selling it - but you won't get rich.

It's a parts motor and parts tank, until you prove otherwise to a buyer. I would say the motor is probably worth $50 as is, and the tank $20 untested. If the two-inline connector is attached, the tank might be worth $40 or $50. Chances are good that a newbie is going to want a cheap motor that they can cheaply and easily convert to fuel pump use, and will have little interest in the tank (call for help to be posted here later).

The motor is dime a dozen and nothing special..they bring about $150-$200 in my area...but the tank if in good shape is almost worth more than motor
