OMC Cobra, 1991 motor. I am replacing the U-Joint Bellows. The new version is very stiff.

Any suggestions on installing it?

I have the forward end in place in the filling and I'm trying to force the aft end through the Pivot Housing.

Thanks

Is the new version a Volvo Penta part (for the SX)? I bought a new one a year ago as a spare and the OMC OE bellows is the original all rubber type. Before they (Volvo) changed it the bellows for the SX drive, both the Cobra and the SX were the same part IIRC. Not sure if that's what they are shipping if you buy an OEM OMC bellows....
here's the place where I get most of my parts, this is what they show for mine (1988).
I looked up a 1991 and it shows the same thing I posted.
You might have gotten the Volvo supplied one, not saying it won't work but I'd use the original myself.

I got an original from am OMC dealer. I got it in position, I removed it from the forward fitting and then I folded the lip in on the aft end. Then I got it into position and then flipped the lip back to normal and it snapped into place. Then I reconnected the forward end and tightened the hose clamp just snug.

Next step, remove the plug in the pivot housing in order to install the new version of the bell crank that has a grease port and uses a Zerk fitting.

I will create a separate post for that.
