How do I know if I have a 3/4" standard tapered steering wheel shaft?

I want to replace my steering wheel. I don't want to order the wrong wheel and have it not fit. But can't for the life of me find a picture of what a standard 3/4" shaft is supposed to look like online. It's a starcraft of undetermined age, so I don't want to end up getting the wrong one.

Not to be rude but you can read a tape measure can't you? Caliper maybe?

If it's 3/4" wide then it'll fit? There aren't different tapers, or number of key slots or anything?

When you look at the steering wheels on the box 99.9% of them say that they are universal fit. It's just like with automobiles a 4-Spoke Grant will fir ALL vehicles, just need the adapter for your make and model. It's pretty much the same thing with a boat. Most steering wheels will fit most boats. Ask your local boat shop about it for more details.

They are surprisingly standard :) I was able to put a brand new wheel on my 1966 steering shaft. No problems.
