How do I remove the windshield from the dash?

On my 1983 SS180 I just had a look at this. The top of the dash/console is sheet aluminum. I expected to see a few bolts with nuts on the inside of the dash top plate but found sheet metal screws instead. It seems as though I need to dis-assemble the entire windshield assembly and remove the glass and track. Is this correct? Any tips are appreciated!

Thanks for the reply. I'll check again but I think mine's different than yours.

Star, if I understand you, there is the threads of a sm screw hanging down? Then yes sir, it would seem someone had removed the framing once before. If thats true you will have to remove the glass & gasket to gain access to the screw heads now. As EZ said, there should be machine threads with nuts on the underside.

I figured it out and have the windshields removed. Yes, there were 3 sheet metal screws sticking out. There was also 1 thru-bolt on each side. Mine had strip of black rubber weatherstripping material in the front of the windshield that once pryed out allowed access to the tops of the sheet metal screws. HTH someone else out!
